Reasons Why I Still Watch Cartoons at 28

People always tell me that I shouldn't be watching cartoons at my age. I don't see anything wrong with that. So here are three reasons as to why I still watch cartoons.

1: Look at the news. Doesn't matter if it's local or national, they talk about rapes, missing people, shootings, etc. None of it is good. I question sometimes why I still watch it.

2: Nostalgia factor. It makes me feel like a kid watching it for the first time.

3: Reminders of what we learned as children. I'm not afraid of admitting that I watch Sofia the First. I honestly started watching it because of Travis Willingham (he voices the king in that series and is heavily involved in anime) but after watching it, it reteaches basic values that we as adults should try to focus on and maybe the world would be a better place.

Throwback Thursday -- Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog Random Episode Review

This is a show I remember watching as a kid in the 90's.  I just remember it being very cartoon-y and Urkel was voicing Sonic, which I thought was very cool.

So the episode's called: Grounder the Genius.

Robotnik's (Eggman for all of those people who grew up after this -- When did they do the name change anyway??) made a genius chip and it works. Scratch (a rooster) and Grounder (a tank like robot) set a trap using a Tails doll (Is that where that Creepypasta originated??) and Sonic's not impressed.  So he pulls "Tails" to safety only to realize there's a trap underneath the trap and now there's a cause for concern.

Meanwhile, Hacker, a groundhog, finds the program that "Robuttnik" (one of Sonic's "pet names" for him) was using and downloads it using a toaster.  Yes, you read that right. A toaster.  Only in cartoons where you can use a toaster to power up anything electronic and have it work every time.  Robotnik get's mad and sends his lackeys Scratch  and Grounder  to find Hacker and destroy him.  Sonic saves the day of course, dressing up like Hacker.  So after destroying Hacker's house, Grounder finds the genius chip, thinking it was his own, and implants it in his head.  He now becomes a major ass and is already planning the next scheme.

So Hacker finds Grounder's stupid chip and asks Sonic to go and replace it.   AholeGrounder (He's going to be called this for the remainder of this blog) anticipating this, zaps Sonic with is ray gun that turns him into stone. He, then, locks Robotnik and Sonic in a dungeon, makes Scratch his lackey and builds a lightning ray, that actually shoots lightning, all before dinner time. Before you know it, Hacker manages to get the ray to reverse the process and unstones Sonic's head.  And once again, the day is saved, thanks to...Scratch??!!

He clumsily manages to get Grounder's head free and the chip is now in Robotnik's hands.  Sonic, now free from his stone prison, revs over to him and switches the chips and Robotnik's stupider than usual and they get blasted by the lightning ray. "I HATE THAT HEDGEHOG!!"

Every episode has a "Sonic Says" segment that is trying to be educational and have morals.  A lot of the 90's shows were like that.  This one talked about using your brain for studying.

Overall, I give the episode:
8/10: Fairly good episode, Grounder was a major ass and no one likes those kind of people.

GHOSTBUSTERS to start filming in 2015 without Ivan Reitman

So it looks like Ghostbusters is happening after all.  So what's the catch??  We're not getting Ivan Reitman and it's a reboot.  Here's what Reitman had to say about his departure:

“When I came back from Harold’s funeral, it was really moving and it made me think about a lot of things. I’d just finished directing Draft Day, which I’m really happy with and proud of. Working on a film that is smaller and more dramatic was so much fun and satisfying. I just finally met with Amy and Doug Belgrad when I got back. I said I’d been thinking about it for weeks, that I’d rather just produce this Ghostbusters. I told them I thought I could help but let’s find a really good director and make it with him. So that’s what we've agreed will happen. I didn’t want all kinds of speculation about what happened with me, that is the real story.”

With that in mind, is a reboot really necessary or should we see the remaining 3 in Ghostbusters 3??  I think that if they go ahead and film this, we (the fans) should have a part in picking the new Ghostbusters.  This way if it fails, we'd have no one to blame but ourselves.

That's all from me for now.  See ya in the next blog.

New Sailor Moon Image and Story Leaked?!

From Anime News Network:
Toei Animation uploaded an unlinked image to its official website for the upcoming Sailor Moonanime, and the image reveals the first key image, the title, and the synopsis for the new series. The image notes that Pretty Guardian Sailor Moon Crystal will premiere in July and will stream simultaneously worldwide on the Niconico website.

The image also lists the previously revealed main staff, and reveals a synopsis:
Usagi Tsukino is a second-year middle school girl who is a little clumsy and a crybaby, but she is full of energy. One day, she meets Luna, a black cat with a crescent moon on her forehead, and she transforms into Sailor Moon, a sailor-uniformed pretty guardian of love and justice! As a chosen guardian of justice, Usagi seems to have a mission to find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other guardians and to protect the princess.
Meanwhile, the queen of the Dark Kingdom, Queen Beryl, also sends minions to the town where Usagi lives to obtain the Illusionary Silver Crystal, which has immense power. This causes strange events to unfold….
Can Sailor Moon really find the Illusionary Silver Crystal with the other Sailor guardians, and protect the princess…!?
The official website launched a countdown page earlier on Thursday with the words "eight days left... coming soon" with a waxing moon. The countdown does not begin until Friday.

Questions Both Ghostbusters Movies Left Me With -- Part 2 -- Ghostbusters 2

In memory of Harold Ramis (1944-2014)

Okay, so like I said in my last couple of posts, Ghostbusters is my favorite movie franchise ever and I wanted to pay some sort of tribute to that.  I've seen a lot of fan art that REALLY tugged at my heartstrings this past week and by tugged, I mean violently yanked and I'll post some of them another time, but for now let's get to the topic at hand.

The movie franchise has left me with a lot of weird questions that, to my knowledge, have never been addressed.  And with that, I'm gonna ask some of them and just five, this time with Ghostbusters 2.

1. Who's is Oscar's father?
My guess: The stiff in the original Ghostbusters.

2. How did Peter get his own show??
Was it popular because he was a former Ghostbuster?  What were his ratings?

3. Speaking of Peter's show, did the guest, who predicted that the world would end on New Year's Eve, get run out of town?
Depending on the people who'd watched the show, I'd like to guess that he went into hiding for a few decades, just to be safe.

4. Did Louis and Janine start dating after they had "fun" at Dana's?
I totally ship these two, so as a fangirl, I kinda wanna know how that turned out.

5. What happened to Jack Hardemeyer after he was fired??
Did he spiral into a deep depression?  Did he find another job?  Did he run for mayor to piss off Lenny?

That's it for me for now.  See ya!!

Questions Both Ghostbusters Movies Left Me With -- Part 1 -- Ghostbusters 1

In memory of Harold Ramis (1944-2014)

Okay, so like I said in my last post, Ghostbusters is my favorite movie franchise ever and I wanted to pay some sort of tribute to that.

And with that, I'm gonna ask some of them. I might do another post in the future with more questions, but I'm just gonna post ten.

1. How many weeks, months, etc, did it take from when they first saw the ghost in the library to them standing on the roof of Dana's apartment building?

To my knowledge, most of this was never stated in the movie.

2. Would the New York Public Library still have the floating and stacked books, the card cabinet that spit out cards and the ghost of the Old Librarian?

If I remember correctly, when the government shut down the containment unit, it exploded and all the ghosts came out.  I would also assume that the Old Librarian was included in that.

3. Who hated Peter Venkman that much to write "Burn in Hell" on their office door?

I mean, Pete's a nice guy...for the most part.  Was it a scorned lover, a failing student??

4. So now let's focus on the words, what was used to write those words on the door?

My guess: It's either paint, or nail polish, judging by the drips on some of the letters.

5. Does Peter pull the "I think you have ESP abilities" bit with every woman he tries to pick up?

Every man has "cheap moves", as Dana calls it, so would this be one of his usual go-to moves?

6. Does Jennifer really have ESP abilities?

Were there any signs that she could possibly have it?  If she did, that could be one reason she went to Venkman's office. My guess is no and that she volunteered like the other guy.

7. Who exactly invited Ray to a mass sponge migration?

My guess: A fellow colleague at the university.  And judging by Peter's comment, he either went with Ray or was told about it.

8. Asking Alice, the current librarian, the one who got spooked out at the beginning of the movie, if she was menstruating, a standard question?

Even Roger Delacourt, the Head Librarian (I assume anyway, his title was never revealed) questions it. I understand, you're a scientist, but there are lines, I think, you shouldn't cross.  I can see either Ray or Egon asking that question, but Peter has a social life and I would think that he'd know better.

9. What was the Philadelphia Mass Turbulence of 1947 and was this a real event?

A lot of the events that they referenced seemed to say that it happened before. Or was it just made up for this movie?

10. The Old Librarian: Was the spirit really purple and are all ghosts color coded?

Most of the ghost shows I watch show them, if they appear at all, either black or white or in orb form.

That's it for now.  See ya in the next blog!
